Parkland Predators Select


Our Mission is to provide quality soccer training for soccer players at all levels from recreational and travel all the way up to college. With sound technical and tactical training, players can develop the skills and instincts necessary to play an attractive, attacking style of soccer.

Soccer Academy and Training Inc. provides multiple training programs from which to choose, from our year round Soccer Academy to specialized programs for an Individual, Small Group (Max 6), Coaching Staff or Team. Our programs include year-round training as well as 6 sessions of Summer and Spring camp training.

Our popular "Friday & Sunday Soccer Skill Clinics " provide opportunities for players 6-16 to build on their skills and enjoy popular street style soccer games such as Brazilian circuit training and soccer tennis.


Roger Thomas: Academy Director

The Soccer Academy and Training of Parkland is under the direction and leadership of Roger Thomas, a former midfielder for the Miami Fusion (MLS) and the Jamaican National Team. Roger played collegiate soccer locally at Florida International University. Roger holds NSCAA National and Advanced National Licenses, USSF A License, KNVB Dutch National Federation and Certification and is a Florida Youth Soccer Association Licensed Coach. Coach Roger was the boys Assistant Varsity Coach of the American Heritage High School in Delray Beach, Florida and lead them to win the  2005-06 State Championship.

Laurie Thomas: Academy Co-Director

Former collegiate player and NCAA Division 1 All-America at Florida International University. Laurie, a former Assistant Womens Coach at Florida International University is also a USSF National Licensed Coach and she hold her Florida Youth Soccer Association Licenses. Laurie is currently the coach for the Under 9 and Under 14 Girls select Parkland Predator teams.  She also plays semi-professional soccer with the Miami Kickers.

Alvin James: Staff Trainer

Coach James is currently the boys Head Varsity Coach at American Heritage High School in Delray Beach, Florida. He has been working in youth soccer for the past 12 years and is considered one of the best youth soccer coaches around by many of his colleagues. Coach James' U-18 boy's team is considered one of the top teams in the country and narrowly missed out on winning a national title in 2004. Coach James was a former Ft. Lauderdale Striker and Jamaican National Team player. He holds the United States Soccer Federation (USSF “B”) Coaching License.

Diego Cardona: Director of Goalkeeping, Staff Trainer & Technical Advisor

Coach Cardona is currently the Varsity Boys Head Soccer Coach at North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek, Florida. Prior to coaching at North Broward Preparatory School, Cardona spent five seasons as the Girls Head Soccer Coach at Olympic Heights High School in Boca Ration, Florida.

Coach Cardona has been working with the Parkland Predator Soccer Club select program for the last three years and has lead many of our youth teams to championship glory. He holds the National Youth License with the National Soccer Coaches of America, and has a Bachelors degree in Physical Education from Tusculum College in Tennessee.
